Josuke Higashikata

The character 仗 in Josuke's name carries meanings associated with weapons, reliance and protection. The character 助 can be read as either suke or jo, allowing his name to be read as both Josuke and JoJo. His hairstyle has a personal history: in 1987, DIO's influence awakened his Stand and left him with a persistent high fever. His mother, Tomoko Higashikata, drove him through the snow to a hospital late at night, but the car stalled on a deserted road. A badly injured boy with a pompadour took off his outer jacket and helped get the car moving, despite being misunderstood. Josuke came to admire this unknown boy deeply and styled his hair after him.

Appearance and clothing

Josuke's most striking feature is his pompadour. He wears a customized school uniform that expresses his own style, giving him a bright and distinctive appearance.

Personality

Josuke is gentle, honest, kind, just, passionate and resourceful, and places great importance on his friends and family. As long as no one insults his hair, he is described as one of the gentlest JoJos, second only to Jonathan. Once someone mocks it, however, his rage makes him disregard everything except the person responsible.

Josuke lives in Jozenji, Morioh, and is a first-year student at Budogaoka High School. He enjoys video games and listening to Prince CDs. His everyday life revolves around his friends, his family and the Stand-related incidents occurring in Morioh.

Josuke's Stand, Crazy Diamond, takes its name from Pink Floyd's song Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Its parameters are Destructive Power A, Development Potential C, Precision B, Persistence B, Range D (1–2 meters) and Speed A. It can alter objects or Stands through restoration, and can repair a body at the instant of death, but it cannot revive the dead, heal Josuke's own injuries, cure disease or create missing components. Its ability rearranges and restores things; it does not create them.

Crazy Diamond has many uses in battle: simply repairing objects or bodies, breaking things through force, restoring things in unexpected ways to counterattack, using restoration to defend, and recalling objects by repairing them. Without its special ability, it is a Stand that relies primarily on physical power, attacking with a cry of 'Dorararara.' When Josuke is enraged, its strength can break through the guard of a Star Platinum that is not intent on fighting, although its speed and precision fall short of Star Platinum's.
