Yukako Yamagishi

Appearance and clothing

Yukako's clothing is mostly an ordinary girls' school uniform, decorated with her own embroidery. Each sleeve bears a flower bud. These two flowers appear to change shape in response to her feelings about love, and sometimes differ from each other; it is unclear whether this is intentional or an inconsistency in the drawings.

Personality

Attractive, academically accomplished and skilled at household tasks, Yukako cares deeply about her appearance. She is forceful, self-centered, impatient and stubborn, rarely listens to others, fixates easily and has a short temper. Her willpower, drive and ability to carry out a plan are exceptional. Ordinarily cold, aloof, unsmiling and unsociable, she develops a twitch in her left eyelid when excited or angry. Intensely possessive, she loves obsessively and can threaten to kill someone who tries to leave her. She is attracted to men with potential and uses extreme methods to mold a man she likes into her ideal.

Once in love, she is willing to give and sacrifice for the other person, but without judging what is appropriate or considering his feelings. She knits a sweater in a single night, somehow knowing Koichi's height and chest measurements without asking, makes him a protective charm, and goes straight to the market in the morning for fresh ingredients to prepare an elaborate lunch. The result is to terrify him.

Yukako embodies the yandere archetype before the term existed, around 1993, and made a striking impression at the time. Her imprisonment of Koichi draws on the film Misery. Her hair-controlling ability also recalls Bruford and his Danse Macabre Hair from Part 1. She was additionally featured in a collaboration connected to Base Ball Bear's 2009 single Breeeeze Girl.

Yukako's Stand, Love Deluxe, allows her to use her hair to attack and bind opponents. She can also implant strands into another person's body to interfere with their movements, with the degree of control increasing with the amount implanted. Its name comes from the British band Sade's album Love Deluxe. Its parameters are Destructive Power B, Speed B, Range C, Persistence A, Precision E and Development Potential B.
