Akira Otoishi
Akira Otoishi.

Appearance and clothing

Akira's most distinctive features are his hair swept to one side and the lightning-shaped mark over his left eye, which looks more like a tattoo than a scar. He wears a copper-colored collar, boots and a one-piece outfit with a vest and jacket over the upper half. Circular ornaments cover his clothing, and his jacket also has cross-shaped decorations.

Personality

Akira is confident and careful, but easily becomes overconfident. He can reflect on himself and grow stronger after doing so. His passion for rock music is sincere, and Koichi judges that his guitar skills could make him an excellent rock guitarist after he gets out of prison.

04Stand abilities

Red Hot Chili Pepper is a remotely operated, long-range Stand dependent on electricity. It controls electricity and can merge with it. Its basic strength is low, but charging increases its power in proportion to the amount of electricity absorbed. During the harbor battle, drawing in all of Morioh's electricity greatly increases its strength. Such large-scale absorption, however, temporarily blacks out its surroundings and leaves it unable to keep replenishing its charge.

Its mobility comes from the electrical network: wires and batteries give it routes for spying and attack, and it can carry objects through the current. That dependence also makes it vulnerable away from a power supply. Seawater disperses its stored electricity, which is why Josuke can defeat a Stand that has briefly surpassed Crazy Diamond in raw power.

The Stand's design changes considerably. Early appearances look more animal-like and less intelligent, with vertical pupils, a constantly drooling mouth, spikes on its claws and a sloping oval head resembling that of a Pachycephalosaurus. Its name comes from the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Its design draws on a headbutting dinosaur-man character in a work by Kenji Otsuki and on Frieza from Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball. Its parameters are Destructive Power A, Speed A, Range A, Persistence A, Precision C and Development Potential A.

05Story

Story spoilers

After Keicho Nijimura's Arrow awakens his potential, Akira takes advantage of Keicho's defeat by Josuke to kill him and steal the Bow and Arrow. He intends to create more Stand users for his own amusement. In addition to killing Keicho, he uses his Stand to steal goods worth about 500 million yen and is ultimately imprisoned for theft.

Learning that Josuke and Jotaro have brought in Joseph Joestar, who could expose his identity, Akira decides to board Joseph's boat and kill him before they can intervene. After Josuke defeats Red Hot Chili Pepper in battle, Akira nevertheless slips aboard and tries to assassinate Joseph. Okuyasu Nijimura finally knocks him out. The Bow and Arrow he carries are taken by the Speedwagon Foundation for research. After his arrest, his fear of Star Platinum's power keeps him obediently in prison.
