03Appearance

Tamami Kobayashi
Tamami Kobayashi.

Tamami has a large, conspicuous hairstyle that covers his head and extends below his ears, with openings cut into the sides to expose them. He wears a gold watch and bracelet on his left wrist. The bracelet disappears when he visits Koichi's house and never returns; the watch also sometimes disappears, apparently because it was omitted from the drawing. His outfit during that visit features several flag emblems: the British flag on the left breast, the Swiss flag on the left collar, the Italian flag on the right collar, and an American flag on his back, which shifts noticeably lower during the visit. Afterward, he changes into casual clothing similar to his first outfit, but without the flags and with joined black sections along the hem and on the back. He wears gold earrings and has a cross-shaped scar to the left of his mouth.

04Stand abilities

Tamami's Stand, The Lock, manifests a lock on someone who feels guilty, with its weight proportional to the intensity of that guilt. If it becomes heavy enough, the victim may be driven toward suicide. It has little direct combat application because it cannot deliver swift, precise physical attacks, and it has no effect on someone without guilt. Its parameters are Destructive Power E, Speed E, Range A, Persistence A, Precision E and Development Potential E.

The victim need not have committed a real wrong: Tamami's staged accidents and accusations can create guilt by deception. Exposing that deception or otherwise removing the guilt can release The Lock. This is how Koichi's effort to make his mother believe him becomes more important than simply trying to strike the Stand.

05Story

Story spoilers

Tamami is 20 and was an upperclassman at the school attended by Josuke Higashikata and Okuyasu Nijimura. Although his stated height is 153 cm, he is drawn progressively smaller after becoming Koichi's follower. He plays an important inadvertent role in Koichi's full Stand awakening. Already accustomed to extorting money, he gains his Stand when Keicho Nijimura shoots him with the Arrow and uses it to further his schemes. After Koichi defeats him, Tamami quickly becomes his subordinate and demonstrates through his actions that he has abandoned extortion, turning instead to collecting debts for a loan shark. Later, Toshikazu Hazamada's Stand injures him and sends him to hospital. Rohan also summons him to act as referee in his gambling match with Josuke.
