Shigekiyo Yangu

Harvest takes its name from Neil Young's album Harvest. Shigechi's small stature and rounded build contrast with a Stand whose strength comes from an enormous number of tiny units.

In a 2000 list of Hirohiko Araki's ten favorite characters, Shigechi placed ninth. That is a dated author preference, rather than an ongoing popularity ranking.

Shigechi is a second-year middle-school student who keeps a turtle named Gonta. He can seem naive and is delighted to make friends, but money brings out a possessive and greedy side. He readily shares small amounts, then resists sharing a large prize even after agreeing to a partnership.

His affection for his family is sincere. When he discovers Kira's secret, protecting his parents becomes more important to him than money. The contrast between his irritating habits and his courage gives his final actions their weight.

Harvest is a colony of about 500 small Stands. The units can spread through a large area, recognize requested objects and bring them back. Shigechi normally uses them to gather loose change, discarded coupons and other overlooked items.

Each unit is weak, but their numbers allow them to surround an opponent, carry Shigechi and attack from many directions. They can also inject liquids through small needles; Shigechi uses this to intoxicate Josuke and Okuyasu during their dispute.

Destroying a few units does not disable the entire colony or seriously injure Shigechi. That does not make him invulnerable: he remains an ordinary person whose judgment and lack of knowledge about an enemy's ability can leave him exposed.

Harvest's parameters are Destructive Power E, Speed B, Range A, Persistence A, Precision E and Development Potential C.

Shigechi's death turns the search for Morioh's unknown murderer into an urgent personal matter for the group. He is remembered both as a difficult, money-loving friend and as someone who tries to protect his family and warn the others when it matters most.
