03Appearance and personality

Ken Oyanagi
Ken Oyanagi.

Ken is a small schoolboy with a headband, short overalls decorated with large safety pins and a conspicuous hole in his left cheek where the Arrow struck him. He is stubborn, competitive and eager to be taken seriously.

He wants to earn the kind of respect Rohan receives. His confidence grows as he wins, and he begins treating favorable coincidences as proof that luck is on his side. The competition pushes him into reckless choices before Rohan's intervention changes his attitude.

04Stand abilities

Boy II Man works through a best-of-five game of rock-paper-scissors. Each round Ken wins takes one third of his opponent's Stand power. He can use the stolen portion, including control over corresponding parts of the victim's body. Winning three rounds would let him take the whole Stand.

The theft is conditional: Ken cannot simply take a Stand without getting the opponent to participate in the game. If the opponent wins the match, the stolen power returns. Rohan's predicament therefore depends on the game's rules, not on Boy II Man overpowering Heaven's Door in a normal fight.

The Stand's name refers to the American R&B group Boyz II Men. Its parameters are Destructive Power C, Speed B, Range B, Persistence A, Precision C and Development Potential C.

05Story

Story spoilers

Yoshihiro Kira shoots Ken with the Arrow, making him a new Stand user. Ken then follows Rohan and engineers repeated opportunities to play rock-paper-scissors. Rohan wins the first two rounds, but Ken's next wins allow Boy II Man to steal parts of Heaven's Door and leave Rohan increasingly vulnerable.

Rohan eventually uses the invisible Shizuka Joestar to make Ken close his hand, securing the decisive round and recovering his Stand. Ken refuses to accept the result, briefly takes the baby hostage and demands another game. After losing again, he runs into the path of a truck.

Rohan steps into the danger with him, and both survive when the driver swerves. Ken comes away with respect for Rohan and agrees not to use his ability to harm others. The outcome changes their relationship from a destructive rivalry to an uneasy lesson in responsibility.
