Kars

The Pillar Men's designs give them a godlike visual presence, with Kars's Brilliant Bone Blade forming a central part of that concept. The author has explained that being banished to space was conceived on the premise that Kars would never return, a fitting note to his ending.

Identity and Origins

Kars comes from an ancient race unable to live in sunlight. After creating the Stone Mask, he came into conflict with his people and killed them, then set out with Esidisi, Wamuu, and Santana. He went to Rome two thousand years ago and entered a long sleep, awakening in 1938. He eventually seized the Red Stone and became the Ultimate Life Form, only to be sent into space by volcanic energy while fighting Joseph.

Appearance and Clothing

Outside battle, he wraps a cloth around his head and neck, leaving only his face and a lock of hair visible; when he first awakens, he wears a jewel on his head. For battle, he removes his headband to expose three horns that serve as sensory organs. He has long purple hair tied into a long braid behind his head and wears ornaments on both ears.

Personality

He puts his goals first, carefully planning to minimize effort and avoid risk rather than acting without a purpose. His determination runs deep, and he is willing to use whatever means are necessary; he considers one-on-one duels tedious. He also shows moments of respect for life, saving a puppy from an approaching car and avoiding flowers as he falls from a cliff.

Overview

The Pillar Men do not age and are immortal, but fear sunlight. They can pass through human bodies and implant rings containing poison. Kars can extend blades from his arms and legs; these blades can merge with the parts of an opponent they pierce and drain the victim. He can also detect temperature and sense the positions and heights of people inside a room.

Light Mode

His Mode is Light. His Brilliant Bone Blade technique sends countless tiny, sharp, hooked blades moving at high speed along the edges of his arm blades, producing complex reflections of light. He can also use this light to signal his subordinates.

Ultimate Life Form

After becoming the Ultimate Life Form, he overcomes his weakness to sunlight. Any part of his body can transform into any organism, giving him the abilities of all living things. He can remain active for long periods without eating or sleeping, and can use Hamon far more powerful than Joseph's.

The narration and remarks by Stroheim and others emphasize the dazzling brilliance and sharpness of his blades, which can cut through bullets; humanity's existing technology and equipment struggle to defeat him. As the Ultimate Life Form, he is described as having no weaknesses. Even lava and the Earth's energy can only send him beyond the atmosphere, making him an almost godlike being.
