Soshi Saion

Background

When they were young, Soshi was supposedly highly protective of his twin sister Mika, shielding her from the bitter experiences she faced regarding her voice. However, at some point, Mika discovered her supernatural ability to steal and mimic the voices of others. Realizing she needed a permanent front to communicate with the outside world without exposing her secret, Mika extracted and consumed Soshi's tongue.↗↗

This act rendered Soshi completely mute and placed him under Mika's absolute mind control. After Kyoka Izumi became Mika's editor for her manga Midhope, Soshi was forced to act as Mika's "manager". Mika would use his stolen voice to conduct all remote phone meetings with her editor, making it appear as though Soshi was speaking on behalf of his "mute" sister. He also lived with her in the massive Saion estate alongside eight other victims who suffered the same fate.↗↗

Meeting Kyoka

When Kyoka arrives at the Saion estate unannounced to verify if Mika is plagiarizing, she is escorted inside by the silent assistants. Soshi (who is actually Mika speaking using his voice) greets her in the dining room, and invites her to sit down for lunch alongside Mika. Kyoka tells Mika about how the readers of Midhope have praised her dialogue. She asks if Mika could sign a stack of volumes for reader giveaways, but Soshi declines since they are still eating.↗↗

Later, Kyoka sneaks out of the guest room to spy on Mika and see how she works. She attempts to peer into Mika's workspace, but Soshi suddenly exits the room and blocks her path. He sternly warns Kyoka to stop her unnecessary snooping and asks her to leave before blankly walking away.↗↗

Elsewhere in the mansion, Soshi cleans Mika's ear while she sings using his voice. The lyrics of the song describes a child wondering where their parents are, making dinner together, eating cow, and then mooing. Mika then gets up and leaves to begin working on her manga. Kyoka ultimately catches her rapidly switching between stolen voices and transferring them onto her manuscripts.↗↗

True Nature

Having been exposed, Mika reveals her true ability and her consumption of Soshi's tongue to Kyoka. Mika then chases Kyoka through the mansion to steal her tongue. When Kyoka's boyfriend, Kansuke, arrives and is subsequently knocked out by Mika, Kyoka is cornered. Soshi and the other silent assistants swarm Kyoka, pinning her down to a table so Mika can extract her tongue.↗↗

However, Kyoka manages to roll away and stuffs Kansuke's IC recorder into Mika's mouth. Because the recorder contains thousands of voices, Mika's ability goes into sensory overload, causing her to short-circuit and accidentally bite off her own tongue. Mika then frantically picks up and devours her own tongue, only to lifelessly fall to the ground afterward. After Kyoka and Kansuke escape the mansion, Soshi picks up Mika and wanders off, abandoning the estate and Mika's assistants.↗↗

Following the incident, the police raid the mansion and discover the eight mutilated assistants. Soshi is officially named as a wanted suspect alongside his sister for the confinement and assault of the victims. However, he and Mika had successfully vanished before the police could apprehend them, leaving their current whereabouts unknown.↗↗
