Gelato has a short, light messy hairstyle and wears earrings. He wears an untucked turtleneck long-sleeve shirt with several pockets. His belt is on top of the shirt.↗
03Personality
However, they are described as heinous criminals and were always very close, leading to rumors about the true nature of their relationship. They are rebellious as they decide to defy the rules of Passione. Sorbet and Gelato risking their lives to investigate the Boss 's identity by themselves could indicate either overconfidence or bravery.↗↗
The anime expands on their personalities. Illuso teases that they're a couple and might be getting it on somewhere since they were missing. Risotto Nero mentions that the two are motivated by money and that Sorbet specifically would never miss out on a chance to get rich. He always made sure to show up and claim his share after assassination missions. When the group realizes they must have tried discovering the Boss's identity, Illuso isn't surprised of the possibility since the two were insane.↗↗
Prima che il Gelato si Sciolga
In the short story " Prima che il Gelato si Sciolga ", Sorbet and Gelato's personalities are expanded on in detail.↗
04Abilities
Stand
As late members of La Squadra Esecuzioni, both Sorbet and Gelato were likely Stand users. However, their abilities were never revealed in the story. According to JOJO A-GO!GO!, this is inferred through Pericolo 's remarks in Chapter 469 and the diagram in Chapter 470. In the short story " Prima che il Gelato si Sciolga ", they are both explicitly stated to have Stands. While their abilities are not shown, Gelato possesses an ability powerful enough to allow him to reflexively defend himself and survive a point-blank bomb explosion unscathed.↗↗↗↗
Prima che il Gelato si Sciolga
Sorbet and Gelato form a brilliant combination, with Sorbet acting as the long-range neutralizer and Gelato handling infiltration and on-site clean-up. Gelato is armed with a pistol to eliminate any remaining threats.↗↗↗
Marksmanship
Sorbet is a highly skilled assassin whose primary expertise is long-range marksmanship. His talent with a gun, whether at short or long range, had been called genius-level since his time in the military. He is capable of incredible feats of sniping, such as successfully landing two precise shots to a target's temple from over fifty meters away through a narrow window opening. In addition to his rifle skills, he is also proficient with a handgun, carrying a Beretta M92 for close-quarters situations.↗↗↗
Driving
Sorbet is an expert driver, a skill he acquired from operating military vehicles all the time. He is the duo's designated driver, navigating his black compact car with a practiced ease that Gelato finds pleasant.↗↗
Intelligence Network
Gelato is a master of intelligence gathering and planning. He maintains a unique and extensive information network that provides him with vast amounts of personal data on his targets, ranging from their professions and addresses to their sexual preferences and favorite sweets. He stores this information in his mind and can recall it with perfect fluency, making him an expert at investigation and infiltration.↗↗
05Story
SPOILERS
Vento Aureo
Sorbet and Gelato are introduced during Formaggio 's recollection of his motivations for wanting to kidnap Trish Una. Both were members of Passione specialized in assassination and were always so close to each other that they were rumored to be a couple. Apparently disgruntled by the lack of money their boss granted them, they attempted to pursue his identity to steal his territory. This results in the two being abducted. Sorbet and Gelato's team attempt to search for them but to no avail.↗↗
In the anime, they are kidnapped by Cioccolata and Secco, with Secco filming Cioccolata torturing them. Gelato is tied up and forced to watch Sorbet being cross-sectioned into thirty-six pieces with a sharp knife, starting with his toes. His face distorts in fear during the torture. Gelato becomes overcome with fear and despair seeing his partner gruesomely tortured. He commits suicide by swallowing his cloth gag into his throat to suffocate, saving himself from further terror.↗↗↗
Days later, thirty-six individual cross-sections of Sorbet are delivered in individual packages to the assassin team. Each body part was preserved in formalin and placed inside frames.↗↗
They are later shown being recounted by Risotto Nero as he remembers his rebellion against the boss to avenge them.↗↗
Background
Before joining Passione, Sorbet was a soldier in the Italian army. He was discharged after assaulting a superior officer, whom he had beaten half to death due to the officer bullying his subordinates. Sorbet explained this was not out of a sense of justice, but because he could not stand arrogant individuals who looked down on their subordinates, finding it exhilarating to see the terror on his face when confronted.↗↗↗
Gelato was a person of interest to the police, suspected of being a thrill killer responsible for multiple murders. He would thoroughly investigate individuals who caught his interest and then meticulously kill them. He told Sorbet that he committed at least twenty murders over twenty years, though he claimed to lose interest the moment they were dead, implying the true number could be much higher. Due to his clean work, which left no evidence behind, all charges against him were dropped.↗↗
Both of them later joined Passione and were assigned to La Squadra Esecuzioni, where they met each other. Despite Gelato's nature of not getting close to others, he quickly formed an intense bond with Sorbet. Within a month, the two were taking on missions as a pair. They eventually became inseparable partners who lived together and wore matching items. The two of them had successfully carried out many difficult assassinations.↗↗↗
Boss's Warning
Sorbet and Gelato are assigned the mission to assassinate former gangster Liberio Betti. As Sorbet drives their black compact car along the coastline, Gelato enjoys the spring breeze while snacking on various snacks. During the drive, they discuss their growing dissatisfaction with Passione, with Sorbet venting about their meager pay and the mission's apparent pointlessness. They begin tailing their target's companion, a young nurse named Alice Bianchi, to a secluded trattoria.↗↗
Following the plan, Sorbet successfully shoots Liberio. However, the mission is revealed to be a trap when Alice, swearing loyalty to "the Boss" with her last breath, detonates a bomb hidden in her bouquet in a suicide attack meant to kill them. Gelato uses his Stand to survive the explosion unscathed.↗↗↗
Panicked after hearing the blast and getting no answer on the phone, Sorbet storms the burning building. He finds Gelato calm amidst the flames, sipping coffee and eating a bowl of milk gelato. Gelato explains that Alice was a Passione loyalist who actually loved the Boss rather than Liberio, and the entire mission was a "warning" to them from the Boss, as the Boss would have known that an ordinary bomb wouldn't kill Stand users like them.↗↗
