02Appearance

Kyomei's appearance is unknown, he's described as a young man, the youngest of his two brothers.↗↗

Seven years later, Kyomei Isaka is "reborn" and transforms himself into a monster that's more machine than man. His entire face is gone, replaced by Majico speakers with a siren attached. His clothes have been discarded entirely leaving only machinery and wires to cover his nude body. Analysis Plus cables are wrapped around his arms and legs in a spiral pattern, threaded into the skin. The palms of his hands are covered by parts similar to earmuffs of headphones. The box is filled with record players and batteries.↗↗↗

03Personality

Due to being the youngest of three sons, Kyomei was spoiled often by his parents. Being spoiled and indulged in all the time led to a prominent laziness in his personality. He developed a passion for music with his personal favorite genre being alternative rock, he eventually realized he prefers listen to music than creating it. He struggles with human relationships and will actively go out of his way to avoid them such as dropping out of college despite spending over two years pursuing his dreams. Kyomei's lazy personality is nourished further once he achieves success for Sakamochi Record by pure luck than any effort or business savviness. He spent his days living as a insincere slacker.↗

Kyomei attempts to use the same tactic on Rohan Kishibe to make him leave, only to be easily caught off guard when confronted about not taking his job seriously. All Kyomei can do is act meek and admit how he's a fan of Rohan's, owning every single volume of Pink Dark Boy. Kyomei had only ever known three ways of measuring the quality of audio: breadth of knowledge, amount spent on a collection, and how large a collection is. He had never considered paying respect toward the very experience itself; he's moved by the mangaka's way of paying respect to music which involved deeming what record player is the most worthy of playing “Good Times Bad Times” by Led Zeppelin.↗

04Abilities

Sound Manipulation

Kyomei's evolved state allows him to manipulate audio waves in various ways. He's capable of replicating brain waves that make the human body feel relaxed or happy, enough to want to listen to the melodic noise forever if anyone's near the sound range. The effect is ten times more potent if the palm of his hand makes direct contact. Once Kyomei touches his chosen target, sound can reverberate through the victim's skull with their mouth used as an amplifier. The sound intimately resonates with a human's core akin to a ripple effect throughout the body.↗

His ability extends to his very footsteps as he's able to traverse without making a sound.↗

Background

Kyomei Isaka is a descendant of a samurai family from east Japan who're tasked with managing land of the old countryside Sakamochi village in T prefecture. He enters a university of music in Tokyo to pursue his newfound passion for music, only to drop out after two years. He returns home and his parents pull some strings to get him a job at an audio equipment store called Sakamochi Record, one of the properties managed by his family.↗

Despite its worn down appearance, the store carries valuable audio equipment from the early Shōwa period. Kyomei gets the brilliant idea of selling them online, prompting unprecedented sales for such an isolated and obscure shop in the countryside. His convenient idea made it possible to start a cycle of selling old equipment, earning money, then buying the latest high-tech equipment. The cycle eventually solidifies Sakamochi Record's reputation in the audio equipment community.↗

Golden Melody

Searching for a record player, Rohan Kishibe enters Sakamochi Record in the evening while it was closing shop, annoying Kyomei. He attempts to drive Rohan off by constantly talking about overly technical information. Rohan immediately sees through his attitude and reprimands him, Rohan tells the arrogant audiophile that if he is going to "pursue" one medium to devote his life to, he should put his all into it.↗

Kyomei Isaka spent the next seven years in pursuit of "pure audio" with a focus of doing the impossible, all for the goal of eliminating all noise. He built up a high quality collection from legendary companies, the type of collection that would take multiple lifetimes to successfully collect every single piece of merchandise. He discards every noisemaker he deemed unnecessary, which eventually included the population of people in the town.↗

One day, Rohan receives a postcard addressed to him from Kyomei, inviting him to meet at Sakamochi Record at exactly 4 PM next week. Rohan embarks on an all expense paid trip to the town with his newly assigned editor Kyoka Izumi. They notice that all life in the town was evacuated far quicker than either of the two anticipated. They suddenly hear thumping, a shifting noise resembling music, specifically sounding like an electronic cover reminiscent of a song by The Kings Of Leon.↗

Kyoka's wails are replaced with wonderful music that forces Rohan at ease and makes Kyoka start happily dancing her life away, completely ignoring her strangulation. Kyomei greets Rohan as if he's an old friend then threatens to eliminate Kyoka if Rohan doesn't make his "luggage" cease her noise. Rohan uses Heaven's Door to silence Kyoka for three hours, which gets her released from Kyomei's clutches. Kyomei starts guiding Rohan through the silent streets of the uninhabited town.↗

Kyomei declares that he finally was able to reproduce the "Golden Melody", he will harness its infinite energy. Kyomei inserts the record inside the record player. Rohan has enough of the foreboding events laid before him and gives Kyomei a simple warning that he will attack him if he tries to play that sound. People will die if Kyomei exposes a 100% "pure melody" onto the world, no one can handle infinity which includes Kyomei Isaka.↗

Kyomei plays the music and listens to it for exactly 3 minutes and 20 seconds. By the time the sky brightened up again, the song had ended and Kyomei was gone. Showered in a melody too pure, his soul melted into the music and disappeared, unable to withstand the sound waves radiating pure infinite energy. As his life energy faded, Rohan read what was left of his memories.↗
