01Basic information
02Appearance
Chinami Gozan is a woman with smooth, chestnut-colored hair, a sharp, well-defined nose, and clear, striking eyes. She has an average build which is neither too thin nor thick, having proportions like a sculpture and a perfect posture. Despite Rohan not being overly concerned with a woman's looks, even he considers her beautiful. Her soft smile is akin to a flower blossoming. It is described that simply watching her movements would make one feel happy.↗↗↗↗
Once Rohan senses her malice, he feels disgust at her demeanor. He also notices that her eyes are pitch black, like the depths of a cave. Her smooth and porcelain-like skin changes to look like a reptile's, with her veins on her hand becoming visible when she is tense.↗↗
03Personality
Chinami initially presents herself as a picture-perfect housewife and supportive spouse, apologizing for her husband's rudeness while serving tea. She mentions that she would serve her husband freshly baked bread and sausages, pour chilled orange juice from a pitcher, and give him his favorite foods. She believes that for a woman, the sense of finding one's other half is the ultimate happiness.↗↗↗
In reality, Chinami is deeply unhinged in her possessiveness. When she feels secure, she is polite and calm, but the moment her delusion is challenged, she snaps into violent hysteria. She views any time apart from her husband as a personal betrayal and thinks that is common sense, even when her husband is working or visiting his hospitalized mother. When her husband is apart from her, she feels like she is inhaling poisonous gas with every breath she takes in her house. She doesn't see Ikkei as an independent person, but as a possession that she is entitled to hoard.↗↗
Chinami has a lack of empathy, drugging Rohan Kishibe and manipulating the entire situation in her house, convinced that fate is on her side because her love is pure. While she verbally apologizes for dragging Rohan into her scheme and offers him anything from her husband's inventory as an "apology," her remorse is superficial and transactional. She views the incident as a mere inconvenience she can pay her way out of, rather than a moral violation; when Rohan scolds her for breaking the trust between merchant and customer, she simply blinks, unable to comprehend the concept.↗↗
04Abilities
Stand
Although Chinami does not have the power to use a Stand on her own, she is the owner of the Box of Happiness, an object that was passed down in her family for generations. She gets Rohan Kishibe to nearly fully reassemble the broken box, and then completes it by putting the lid on top, sealing her husband inside it. The Box of Happiness shows people who are inside it the happiest things in their life. When it is fully sealed with the lid, it cannot be reopened.↗
05Story
SPOILERS
Background
Chinami fell in love with her future husband Ikkei Gozan instantly upon meeting him, describing their union as two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together. Desiring a perfect domestic life, she purchased a lavish home for 60 million yen where they could be together forever. However, her happiness was short-lived as Ikkei began spending days, and eventually weeks, away from home for his antique business.↗↗
Chinami possessed a dangerous family heirloom known as the Box of Happiness. Passed down for generations, the box was designed to trap a person inside a blissful dream forever. The box had been shattered in the past by a "special person" who understood its danger, rendering it useless.↗↗
Box of Happiness
When Rohan arrives to her home, Chinami plays the role of the submissive, elegant housewife, serving tea and apologizing for Ikkei's rudeness. After Ikkei leaves the house, she continues to serve Rohan tea that she has laced with a slow-acting sedative.↗↗↗
As Rohan succumbs to the drug and enters a trance to repair the ceramic box, Chinami watches and waits. Once the box is fully reassembled, she seizes her chance and seals her husband inside it, effectively "storing" him like a precious jewel in a safe. When Rohan wakes up, she calmly explains her twisted logic, believing she has achieved the ultimate form of marriage by keeping her husband with her forever. She attempts to bribe Rohan into silence by offering him anything from Ikkei's inventory.↗↗
Her victory is shattered when Rohan uses Heaven's Door to speak to Ikkei inside the box. Ikkei reveals that the "happiness" the box shows him is a memory of Chinami's past smile, and he remains oblivious to her current presence. Enraged that the husband she went to such lengths to keep is ignoring her real self in favor of a hallucination, she descends into madness, screaming and scratching futilely at the indestructible box as Rohan leaves the house.↗↗
