02Appearance
Jolyne's mother is a slim woman with light, medium-length hair swept to the side. She wears a simple patterned dress and lipstick. In the photograph inside the Stone Pendant, she is seen wearing a dress with three straps on each side.↗
In the flashback set when Jolyne is fourteen, she has much longer hair swept back and wears a collared shirt, skirt, and high heels while carrying a purse.↗
03Personality
She had a close relationship with her daughter, whom she raised mostly alone due to the absence of her husband. She always called her daughter "JoJo" out of love, a nickname that reflected their affectionate bond.↗
As Jolyne slowly but surely went toward a path of restlessness, her mother would just scold her. Jolyne refers to her mother as a "real crybaby," and the lawyer says her mother was very exhausted from worrying about Jolyne following her arrest.↗↗↗
Even so, she remained a caring, responsible, and dutiful parent who always took action whenever her daughter was in trouble. She tried her best to contact Jotaro, though her efforts were fruitless. She was also the one who handled the paperwork to get Jolyne released when she was arrested at the age of 14. When Jolyne was sent to the detention facility in the present day, her mother made sure to send her not only necessary supplies but also her schoolwork and reading materials for entertainment. Most importantly, she delivered the Stone Pendant as Jotaro had instructed her to do after their divorce.↗
04Story
SPOILERS
Background
She met Jotaro at some point and later gave birth to Jolyne around 1992. She has affectionately called her daughter "JoJo" ever since. Living in Florida, Jolyne spent much of her childhood without her father, as his job frequently required him to leave the country. Even when she developed a high fever of 42 °C at age 6, Jotaro did not return from Japan to be with her, which she deeply resented. In truth, Jotaro made sure not to involve his family in the dangerous adventures he lived.↗↗↗↗↗
In 2006, Jolyne was arrested and charged with stealing a wallet and a car. Jolyne's mother spoke with the officers, insisting it must have been some kind of mistake and that her daughter would never do such a thing. Distressed, she called Jotaro, begging him to delay his trip to Tokyo and come help their daughter instead, reminding him that no matter how important his work was, he was still her father. However, Jotaro hung up on her in the middle of the conversation.↗↗
At some other point, after being left alone for years, Jolyne's mother and Jotaro eventually divorced, an event that further deepened Jolyne's frustration. The reason for the divorce is stated to be family discord.↗↗↗
Stone Ocean
Jolyne is arrested, and her mother, seeing her taken by the police, becomes frantic and calls out to her. Jolyne reassures her that she will be fine.↗↗
Before Jolyne's trial, her mother, exhausted from worrying and unable to visit, asks her lawyer to deliver clothes, socks, underwear, a toothbrush, vitamins, her favorite books and magazines, some schoolwork, and a pendant that Jotaro had asked her to give Jolyne if she was ever in trouble. The pendant bears a picture of Jotaro together with Jolyne's mother. Jolyne's mother also attempted to get into contact with Jotaro, but his research in Africa meant that she could not get in touch with him.↗↗
After Romeo 's betrayal, Jolyne only allows her mother to call her JoJo. While in Green Dolphin Street Prison, Jolyne frequently thinks about her mom and wants to hear her voice.↗↗
It is unknown how she met Jotaro, the details of their marriage, when the divorce occurred, who filed it, or her location and well-being during the events of Stone Ocean. It can be assumed that Jotaro married her at a young age, likely in his early 20s, and that she is unaware of Stands and of Jotaro's activities with the Speedwagon Foundation, as Jotaro took pains to keep her and Jolyne out of danger.↗
Jolyne, Fly High with GUCCI
In an alternate story, 17-year-old Jolyne's mother dies from illness 10 days prior to the beginning of the story. She loved her clothes, and before her death she quietly had all her clothes tailored (blouses, dresses, etc.) to be able to fit over Jolyne. Jolyne wears them so that she knows her mother is watching over her. Later on, her scarf is used to hide the Unicorn.↗
