01Basic information
02Appearance
Yumeo is an overweight adult man with a meek face that hides years of inner resentment.↗↗
After becoming an incarnation of Orobog, Yumeo takes on the full appearance and costume of the character. His appearance as a whole is comparable to walking algae. His face is veiled by long, dark greenish-blue hair. His clothes are tattered and badly stained, his ragged trousers dragging along the floor behind him.↗↗
03Personality
Yumeo initially appears as a timid and servile person. However, this is merely a facade hiding his overwhelming ambition and rage, as revealed when he snaps at Harato Kunieda. Above all else, Yumeo believes in his own talent as an actor, calling himself "better than Kunieda" even as he curses his weight. He persistently pursues his goal in spite of his condition, working his way up the production hierarchy from the bottom. It is only after Sosuke Kitamoto disrespects and abandons him that his dreams appear to be crushed.↗↗
As Orobog, Yumeo's existing rage turns to outright sadism. He takes a degree of satisfaction, even pride, in assaulting the people that abandoned him, loudly announcing his motive to the cast and crew. He especially hates Rohan Kishibe for turning Orobog into a villain, and then allowing the drama to cut him from the production. Orobog is also confident in his power, daring Rohan to see what happens when he is disrespected and gloating that only the electric chair can kill him.↗
When speaking as Orobog, Yumeo's voice sounds as if it were echoing through water, and is frequently interrupted by the sound of gurgling.↗↗
04Abilities
Orobog
Yumeo is able to manifest an incarnation of the character Orobog fueled by sheer fury. In this state, Yumeo is able to harness Orobog's abilities, including the power to severely dehydrate and wither people, objects, and entire lands into near-lifeless husks of themselves. He can dehydrate others even from a considerable distance. In addition, Orobog's bloated body takes significantly less damage from physical attacks.↗
Perhaps the greatest of Orobog's strengths, however, is the source of his power. Being fueled purely by his anger at being abandoned, Orobog's power only increases as his victims disrespect his original story. Actions such as attempting to separate Yumeo's consciousness from Orobog's, fleeing the scene of the battle, or even attempting to electrocute him by any way other than an electric chair only intensify the effects of his dehydration. The only method of truly defeating Orobog is by subjecting him to an electric chair, as that is the only way his story can end.↗↗
Personal Skills
Although Yumeo's job as an assistant director seems to require little skill, he seems proficient in makeup and costume design, having created Orobog's prosthetics and costume for the production on short notice. He also appears to possess some medical knowledge, as Orobog cites disequilibrium and Romberg syndrome as effects of his attacks.↗↗
05Story
SPOILERS
Background
Yumeo Obara aspired to become a professional actor. At the age of 18, however, he came down with a severe illness; the medication he was prescribed caused a hormonal imbalance within him, causing him to rapidly gain weight. As a result, he lost an audition for a hit drama series, and his acting dreams were crushed.↗
After the original actor for the part of Orobog is arrested on charges of drug possession, Yumeo sees his chance to re-enter the world of acting. He approaches the drama's director, Sosuke Kitamoto, and offers to play the role himself; Kitamoto jokingly replies that he'd consider it if Yumeo provides his own costumes and props. In response, Yumeo painstakingly designs and constructs Orobog's costume himself, only to be definitively turned down after showing Kitamoto the costume.↗↗
Original Author Rohan Kishibe
One day, as Rohan Kishibe himself is visiting the set, Kunieda asks for a bottle of mineral water. Yumeo fetches Kunieda a bottle of hard water, not knowing the actor's preference for soft water. As soon as the water touches Kunieda's lips, he furiously calls Yumeo back over and strikes him over the head with the bottle. Kunieda continues physically and verbally abusing Yumeo for some time, mocking his apologies, giving him a nosebleed, and calling him a pig.↗↗
From a storage room next to the set, Orobog first targets Kunieda himself, draining him and his manager of their moisture just as he finishes a scene. As the crew finally notices Orobog, Kitamoto tries to flee the scene, only to stumble on the body of Kunieda's manager as Orobog attacks him. Orobog accuses everyone present of abandoning him, especially the original author. Orobog approaches Rohan to attack, but the manga artist uses Heaven's Door on Yumeo in self-defense.↗
A few seconds later, Orobog stands back up, gloating that he can only be killed by the electric chair. Rohan flees the monster and jumps down to the first floor, breaking three of his brittle limbs on impact. Unable to keep Orobog at bay, Rohan tries to throw a piece of paper at the monster, seemingly to no avail. Orobog revels in the triumph of killing the very author that resurrected him.↗
As Rohan recovers, he notes that Yumeo survived the "electrocution," and figures that Yumeo's specific anger toward Rohan must have separated his and Orobog's minds during the latter's defeat. Later, Yumeo is blacklisted from the industry; his fate afterward is unknown.↗↗↗
