01Basic information
02Appearance
The doll resembles an old looking manikin. It's dull and hand carved from wood without any texture on its a face, the arms and legs are connected with wires. It's described with fourteen total joins spread throughout the neck, shoulders, hip joints, elbows, knees, wrists and ankles.↗
03Personality
The Doll Without a Past appears to be an ordinary doll on the surface but it enforces its desires freely. It claims an owner out of its desire to absorb the conceptual energy of coincidental events meant to occur in the chosen owner's life up until the doll's satisfied. However, if anyone were to try and learn about it, the will of the doll reaches a state of unease. It runs from any attempted investigation.↗
While not outwardly showing emotion, the doll is seemingly well aware of its very nature of forcing humans into ultimatums. When Rohan is placed into a situation that threatened either his or an innocent boy's life, he saw shadows that resembled a nefarious looking face on the doll, as if it were laughing in scorn.↗
04Abilities
Coincidence Manipulation
The Doll Without a Past weaponizes greater forces comparable to fate, Rohan describes the events that befall him and others as coincidences. The doll operates under a rule of ownership, the length of time someone has the doll in their possession. If the current owner no longer owns the doll for any reason: a spiritual timer manifests on them and manipulates their fate with the energy reminiscent of a Stand. As soon as the countdown ends: the victim alone will perish in ways that resemble accidents. From trees crashing down with unexpected force to devastating truck accidents. The doll can go as far as utilizing coincidental encounters with birds to try and escape its owner.↗
05Story
SPOILERS
Background
It's hypothesized that various owners came into contact with the doll and parted with it. They all died one after another. An artist from Florence became the newest owner for over three years. One day, he entrusts it to his childhood friend: Basilio Pistarino. A supernatural countdown is set in motion and ticked down until he eventually died from accidentally falling headfirst onto a pen holder.↗↗
Basilio stops experiencing the ups and downs of life after becoming the new owner of the doll until a villa burglar breaks into Basilio's mansion. The doll coincidentally falls into his bag: having felt the urge to get away from Basilio. Lucio feels a strange sort of attachment and ends up becoming its newest owner. Basilio realizes that he's been robbed and understands the nature of the doll as soon as he notices the supernatural countdown on himself.↗↗
The Doll Without a Past
Rohan Kishibe purchases the doll from Lucio Portelli at the Thieves' Market. He brings it back home in Morioh. A week later, the short countdown on Lucio runs out and he's reported to have been the only casualty in a deadly truck accident. Basilio arrives at Rohan's house and makes a last ditch effort to re-obtain the doll. He fails and the countdown around his body dramatically shortens due to the rules of repeatedly transferring ownership. A tree topples over and crushes him to death.↗↗↗↗↗↗
Once Rohan tries to read the doll with Heaven's Door, a crow coincidentally loses its orientation and crashes through Rohan's window. His chair snaps and the doll is sent flying through the air after Rohan crashes onto the floor. It sails through the broken window and gets snatched off the ground by another crow that happened to be perched nearby. Rohan pursues and uses his Stand to make additional crows aid him.↗↗↗
The Doll Without a Past attempts to force Rohan to choose between his own life or the young fan's. Rohan uses Heaven's Door once more for a final gamble. Rohan writes a command in the boy to submit the doll he found to the police. A loophole of transferring ownership is found through the legal rule of lost and found. Since Rohan intentionally claims to be the legal owner of the "lost" doll, Rohan's able to split the doll apart and safely give the kid one of the pieces as a reward for finding it.↗↗
Rohan proceeds to shut the rest of the dismantled doll inside a secure box and bury it in his backyard as a time capsule of sorts. The doll is sealed away as Rohan's owned property forever.↗↗
