Sakai (堺) is a friend of Toshikazu Hazamada. According to Tamami Kobayashi, the two got into an argument when Sakai insulted Hazamada's favorite idol or anime. He then suddenly gouges out his left eye with a mechanical pencil due to Surface and is later taken to the hospital. He is only named in the anime, where Sakai is shown listening to the "Help Me, Midnight Discussions!" segment on Morioh Town Radio when he gouges out his eye. In Toshikazu Hazamada's Questionable Adventure, he is named Genki Todo (藤堂 元気, Tōdō Genki). Hazamada gouged out his eye after his friend told him that Hazamada's favorite idol, Ruu Hayama, has a boyfriend.
