02Appearance
Yamaoka is a young woman with a slim build. She has short hair cut to around her neck and wears a hairband. When first seen inside her apartment, she is wrapped in a bath towel. After washing herself again, she later appears wearing a sleeveless dress with slippers. Her dress has a pattern of several dots connected by lines across the fabric, as well as a repeating diamond border along the hemline.↗
03Personality
Yamaoka is cautious with strangers and careful about allowing people into her apartment, likely due to hiding a wanted criminal in her home. She disobeys rules, considering she keeps a dog in her apartment despite their no-pet policy. When the ghost Yoshikage Kira appears at her door pretending to be a delivery man, she refuses to open the door, questions him repeatedly about the delivery, and only agrees to open the door's mail slot to sign the refusal paperwork. After Rocky begins barking, she becomes alarmed, arms herself with a knife, and searches the apartment for signs of an intruder.↗↗

Deadman's Questions
Around 1999, Yamaoka lives in Nijigaoka at Apartment 504 with Rocky and a wanted man connected to a child murder case from fifteen years earlier. Yoshikage Kira is assigned to kill the man, but since he is a spirit, he needs permission to enter her apartment. When Kira comes to her door posing as a delivery man, he attempts to get her to open the door by claiming he has a package related to a plastic model purchase from Mitsumaru Department Store.↗↗
Inside, Yamaoka is unsettled by the encounter and calls Kira's voice creepy. She leaves to wash her body again, having gotten grease on her foot after stepping on her boots. While she is occupied, Rocky begins barking aggressively. Yamaoka notices a knife on the floor and, believing someone may have broken in, searches her cupboard but finds no one.↗↗
After Kira stabs the wanted man, Kira contacts Yamaoka by phone and tells her to call the police. Yamaoka questions where he is calling from and reacts in confusion and alarm. Kira initially wonders if she was deceived by the wanted man, but he figures that it is more reasonable that she knew about his past all along and was simply hiding him.↗↗
