Background
Born into a noble family from the Kingdom of Naples as the son of a wealthy financial commissioner, Wekapipo's brother-in-law had his position, wealth and status secured from birth. He would eventually became one of the royal guards and learned to use the Spin with his Wrecking Balls. While his position in the royal guards is unknown, he is known to have been a friend of Wekapipo beforehand from a similar line of work.↗
However, behind the backs of everyone, the nobleman would regularly abuse Wekapipo's sister in private out of anger as well as for sexual gratification. Six months later, Wekapipo would visit his sister. After finding her sobbing in a corner, her face swollen due to her husband's beating, he regretted the arranged marriage. Wekapipo began to seek the husband in anger while his sister protested, believing the abuse to be her fault.↗
Wekapipo decided to annul the marriage between her and his brother-in-law and successfully pulled strings to secure the church's approval to have the marriage annulled, helped by the fact that his sister was childless. Due to the shame this would bring onto the nobleman's family, he confronted Wekapipo and beat him while berating him, furious at the humiliation of having the Church permit the annulment of his marriage.↗↗
After his death, in a twist of fate, the brother-in-law's abuse would end up being the very thing sparing Wekapipo's sister from a far more tragic future imposed by his father, as when Gyro Zeppeli failed to perform surgery to cure the widow's blindness against the advice of his mother, his father Gregorio would reveal to him the only reason she was kept alive was because the rich father of her dead husband assumed she'd die on her own, inadvertently saving her life.↗↗
