Two vampires in Skeleton Heel Stone who were ordered by Kars 's light signal to present weapons to the competitors. The stouter vampire sits on top of the other and holds two cannonball crossbows, one of which is notably larger than the other. Joseph grabs the larger crossbow for its power, and the vampire grins, remarking that it indeed has great power. Joseph immediately struggles to pull back the string due to the crossbow's large size. The vampires mock Joseph for his choice, with the top one noting that even normal crossbows are already difficult to use. In the manga, the vampire on top demonstrates the crossbow's power by blasting a hole in the arena wall.
