02Appearance
Tomoko is a woman of average height with a slender build and straight, chin-length hair worn in a bob, styled with a side part that frames her face.↗
Her outerwear consists of a long, fitted coat designed for cold weather, fastened at the front with a row of buttons along and additional decorative buttons on the sleeves. The coat is finished with a soft, plush trim along the hem, which is also present around the collar and continues into the lining of the hood. She is initially shown wearing a soft, brimmed hat, later replaced by a hood pulled low over her head, with a umbrella covering her. She wears fitted pants beneath the coat, tucked into long socks or stockings that extend to mid-calf, and ankle-high boots.↗

Tomoko is a calm and devoted mother who prioritizes her family's well-being. She is composed in moments of crisis and provides reassurance to Norisuke before his illness, ultimately calmly choosing to cure him through an Equivalent Exchange, sacrificing her life.↗
04Story

Tomoko married Norisuke Higashikata III and later gave birth to a son, Josuke, later known as Norisuke Higashikata IV.↗↗
During a snowfall, Josuke asks Tomoko about a disease supposedly afflicting the Higashikata family. She calmly inquires where he heard about it, to which Josuke explains that children from a nearby town told him that the Higashikata family is cursed by a disease that strikes the eldest son, causing the skin to harden like rock and leading to memory loss. Tomoko calms Josuke, explaining that every person faces their own hardships, but that the Higashikata family is righteous and strong.↗↗
Later, on the winter of 1963, Josuke is afflicted by the disease himself. His skin hardens and he appears to lose consciousness. Tomoko carries him to the caves under the Twin Pines and performs an Equivalent Exchange, curing Josuke at the cost of her own life.↗↗↗
