01Basic information
02Appearance
Teruhiko is described as a good-looking Japanese man. In the year 2000, he appears as an ordinary, mild-mannered man with wrinkles and a beard on his chin. He has a calm, gentle aura that hides his true nature. Based on Akari Hirai having dark hair whereas their son Takuma has light-colored hair, it is likely that his hair is light-colored as well.↗↗↗
He bears a distinctive birthmark-like scar on his shoulder in the shape of a horse. This mark was caused during a trip to Europe in his youth when a shelf in an antique shop fell on him, cutting him with an Arrow tip hidden among the debris.↗↗
03Personality
To the outside world, Teruhiko presents himself as a gentle, withdrawn, and artistic architect. He avoids large parties, preferring to stand in corners. Rather than spend time with a large group of people, he would prefer to draw lines on his blueprints. However, he speaks with a suave, level-headed demeanor when approached, showing his sense of humor to Akari Hirai. He claims his dream is to build a town that children can be proud of, a sentiment he uses to woo Akari. From Akari's point of view, he was kind and never raised his voice. After fights, he would make a disheartened face and admit he was the wrong one.↗↗↗
However, Teruhiko's kindness is a facade. Beneath this mask, he is a greedy, ruthless, and manipulative sociopath. He embezzles millions by constructing defective housing that would collapse in an earthquake, viewing his illegal earnings as a "medal of honor" and proof of his life. When Akari discovers his crimes, he attempts to kill her without hesitation. During her imprisonment, he displays his lack of empathy by hypocritically calling her "selfish" for not revealing the money's location. He also casually threatens to murder her parents with a hammer if she screamed, hitting them three times each, and then commit suicide.↗↗
04Abilities
Stand
Teruhiko possesses a Stand he named Memory of Jet, based on the jet necklace he gave Akari. For most of his life, he believed this power was simply "good luck."↗
The ability creates a "blind spot" in the world. It forces people to subconsciously ignore a specific location or person, diverting their attention and pathing so they never approach or perceive the target. Teruhiko uses this to hide the gap between the buildings where Akari was trapped; despite being in a busy commercial district, no one ever looks down the gap or hears her noises for nearly a year.↗↗
05Story
SPOILERS
Background
As a teenager, Teruhiko Ogami dated Hanae Orikasa. Later, he became a young architect working in Morioh during its development boom, at a company that dealt with the planning, production, and buying and selling of houses. He met Akari Hirai while he was at work and publicly dated her while maintaining an affair with his former lover, Hanae. During a trip to Europe with Akari, he visited a back-alley antique shop where a shelf collapsed on him.↗↗↗
Despite claiming to Akari that he wanted to build a better future, Teruhiko was secretly approving illegal blueprints and using substandard materials to embezzle over 50 million yen.↗↗
Trapping Akari (1981-1982)
In July 1981, Hanae betrayed him out of jealousy of his relationship with Akari by informing Akari of his crimes. Akari confronted Teruhiko on the company roof, but he strangled her and pushed her off. Akari survived the fall, landing in the narrow gap between their building and the bank next door. On the first night of her confinement, Teruhiko appeared on the roof and dropped a box of donuts.↗↗↗
Teruhiko kept her imprisoned in the gap for nearly a year. To ensure her silence, he tricked her into drinking water laced with a chemical agent that destroyed her vocal cords. He reveals he had calculated the dosage to silence her screams without killing her, ensuring his secret remains safe while he waits for her to break. He monitored her health, dropping food and supplies each night to keep her alive solely to interrogate her.↗↗
In June 1982, Akari gave birth to their son, later named Takuma Hasumi. Teruhiko used the baby as a hostage, promising to ensure the child's safety if she revealed the money's location. She agreed, and Teruhiko hoisted the baby up in a basket, leaving him to Hanae. Hanae abandoned him at a temple, taking a photo to prove the child was safe. Once Akari saw the photo and revealed the money was hidden next to her in the gap, Teruhiko retrieved the cash and abandoned her to die.↗↗
Life Afterward
In 1983, Teruhiko married a different woman and changed his surname to hers, Futaba. Together, they had a daughter named Chiho Futaba. He used the stolen money to live comfortably, sending hush money to Hanae periodically. Around 1995, he would often get into fights with his wife. His wife eventually left him while Chiho was 12 due to one of his former lovers. He lived a peaceful life in a western-style house, unaware that his abandoned son, Takuma Hasumi, was watching him.↗↗↗↗
The Book: 4th Another Day (2000)
On March 17, 2000, Teruhiko is introduced to Chiho's "boyfriend," who is actually her half-brother, Takuma Hasumi. Teruhiko plays the role of a protective but welcoming father, cooking beef stew for them. Chiho leaves the room to print her novel manuscript, leaving the two men alone. Takuma summons his Stand, The Book, and Teruhiko reacts by asking what it is, confirming that he can see Stands and possesses an ability himself.↗↗
Takuma then drops his facade. He places several sheets of A4 paper on the table, listing the names of the corrupt inspectors and construction companies involved in Teruhiko's embezzlement schemes from the 1980s. As Teruhiko realizes his past has caught up with him, Takuma mocks him by sarcastically asking for his "blessing" to marry Chiho, revealing that his relationship with her was a calculated act of revenge.↗↗↗↗
