02Appearance

The crocodile is a massive, male, white-skinned reptile, far larger than any typical American crocodile. His skin is as hard as rock. His eyes are like a cat's, with vertically elongated pupils, and he has ferocious long jaws. His size is estimated to be between seven and nine meters long, weighing 1,300 to 1,800 kilograms. By the end of his battle with Iggy, one of his eyes is crushed and his body is covered in wounds.↗↗↗↗↗

03Personality

Due to a mutation, the crocodile possesses an abnormally high intellect. He is a composed, analytical, and cautious predator, fully aware of his precarious existence and the threat posed by humanity. He spends his idle time pondering abstract concepts, such as philosophizing about his own existence and the nature of intelligence. Knowing that humans are the dominant species because of their tools and that they would exterminate him if they were to discover him, he establishes a creed of acting cautiously, confining himself to the depths of the sewers to prevent being accidentally seen and giving up his instinctual desire to reproduce.↗↗↗↗

The crocodile is prideful, competitive, and driven by a powerful predatory instinct. When confronted by Iggy, a fellow Stand user that can perceive his ability and challenge his dominance, the crocodile's caution is overwhelmed by an obsessive desire to prove his superiority. He abandons his creed of hiding and risks everything to engage Iggy in a decisive battle, unable to bear the thought of living with the humiliation of a defeat. He is resilient and resourceful, capable of thinking of complex strategies like starting fires to flood the sewer or using a handgun he retrieved from a victim.↗↗↗

04Abilities

Physical Skills

The crocodile's body has grown to a monstrous size and strength. His tail strikes are powerful enough to shatter thick brick pillars, and his rock-hard hide can deflect bullets and withstand most of The Fool 's attacks. Like an ordinary crocodile, he is nocturnal and has excellent night vision due to the tapetum lucidum in his eyes.↗↗↗

He is a perfect ambush predator, possessing a crocodile's natural ability to hold his breath for extreme lengths of time. If he moved violently, he could only hold his breath in the water for a few minutes to about ten minutes. However, crocodiles have a special blood flow system centered around the foramen of Panizza, a bypass near the heart that restricts blood flow to the lungs to efficiently conserve oxygen. By entering a state of semi-sleep, he can remain submerged and motionless for up to two hours.↗↗

Crocodiles have a two-chambered stomach. While one chamber secretes acid, the second is a muscular organ that uses ingested stones to grind up prey. These stones also serve as crucial ballast, enabling him to dive quickly. Lacking natural stones in his sewer habitat, the crocodile adapts by swallowing chunks of concrete and even a discarded small safe to fulfill this role.↗↗

Stand

The crocodile's Stand is a small hummingbird with a mechanical design and manipulators instead of legs. It serves as a perfect long-range scouting and utility tool, allowing the crocodile to perceive and interact with the surface world from the safety of the sewer. The crocodile uses it to lure in prey and retrieve human items or tools that it can use to its advantage.↗↗

05Story

SPOILERS

Background

The crocodile speculated that he was originally a pet brought to Manhattan Island as a baby, possibly flushed into the sewer either by a pet dealer accidentally washing him down a drain while cleaning a tank, or by an owner who tired of raising him and flushed him down a toilet.↗↗↗

The crocodile learned many things through the vision of his Stand, a mechanical hummingbird that allowed him to explore outside of the sewers. He understood that he was a species called a crocodile and accepted that his fate was to remain in the sewers, foregoing his natural instinct to seek a mate and continuing his life as a predator hidden from society. Living in the stormwater tunnels beneath Manhattan, the crocodile adapted to his environment.↗↗↗

Later, he used his hummingbird's manipulators to gently remove an expensive earring from a wealthy lady and dropped it in front of a homeless man on the street, allowing it to fall through a grate into the sewer. When the man pried open a manhole to retrieve the jewel, the hummingbird guided him into a slippery section of the tunnels. The man fell into the water, where the crocodile ambushed him and pulled him below, eating him.↗↗

First Confrontation with Iggy

The crocodile's peaceful existence is disturbed when Iggy, a stray Boston Terrier, enters the sewer looking for a homeless man who used to give him coffee gum, the same man that had tried getting the earring and was eaten. Initially assuming Iggy is another easy meal, the crocodile waits in ambush by the water, camouflaged beneath trash, but is surprised when Iggy stops short of the trap and seems to notice something is wrong.↗↗

Fire Strategy

Determined to eliminate the threat, the crocodile retreats to strategize. He decides to manipulate the environment of the sewers to his advantage. He sends his hummingbird to the surface of Manhattan, where it discreetly starts fires in trash cans, apartments, and offices. The simultaneous blazes overwhelm the fire department, forcing them to deploy large amounts of water that flood the storm drains and fill an old underground reservoir where the crocodile lies in wait.↗↗

Trapped in Rubble

Once the water rises high enough, the crocodile surfaces and launches chunks of brick at the domes, shattering sections of the ceiling and raining sand. When the fortress remains standing, he stops firing bricks and instead prepares to attack directly with his jaws. The crocodile charges upward, gouging out sections of the fortress and tearing apart its sand domes, but fails to catch Iggy himself, only destroying decoys made of sand.↗↗

The crocodile remains alive beneath the debris. He enters a semi-sleep state to conserve oxygen and sends the hummingbird to retrieve a long rubber hose he noticed earlier. He uses it as a makeshift snorkel, inserting it into his trachea to breathe while buried. Using his crocodilian physiology to move his liver and ventilate his lungs without a diaphragm, he avoids suffocation.↗↗

Hummingbird's Pursuit

The hummingbird retrieves the revolver from the safe in the crocodile's stomach and shoots Iggy's rear, grazing it. Panicking, Iggy flees while the bird fires a second shot. Its recoil shakes both the hummingbird and the crocodile's internal organs. Iggy's Stand intervenes, blocking each bullet with sand. The hummingbird fires again, circling around Iggy's sand walls and narrowly grazing his face as Iggy dodges.↗

The Subway

In truth, Iggy had lured the crocodile into a tunnel constructed entirely of sand made to look like part of the real sewer, positioned directly over active subway tracks. The crocodile steps closer to deliver the final blow, ignoring the strange vibrations and falling sand. At that moment, a subway train bursts through the wall of the tunnel, smashes through the sand wall, and collides with the crocodile at full speed.↗↗

In the aftermath, subway service is halted. An investigation team recovers the crocodile's mangled body, which is separated from its lower half, from the tunnel. The incident is widely reported in the media, with speculation about the creature's origin and how it came to inhabit the sewers. A large amount of chemical components was detected in the collected samples of his body.↗↗
