Pollo is a man torn between his conscience and his fear. Described as "weak-willed," his initial reason for betraying Passione stems from his guilt over their plan to expand drug operations into his homeland of Sicily, harming women and children. He is terrified for her safety and willing to perjure himself, lie to authorities, and destroy a major court case to protect her from Passione's threats.↗↗↗

Background
Born on the Sicilian island of Lipari, Pollo Albatero was an only child whose parents had divorced when he was young. As an adult, his parents were already deceased. Pollo worked as a banker in Palermo. He was once arrested for being an accountant for a small gang but was never prosecuted. His skills were later noticed by Passione, who hired him to launder their money through a complex network of overseas banks.↗↗↗
Every year, Pollo would take a vacation and visit an arancini shop on the island of Salina in Sicily. The wife of the shop owner was Pollo's half-sister, Melissa Collina. However, Pollo kept his relation to Melissa a secret, so she was unaware of him being her half-brother.↗↗
Pollo decided to betray Passione when he learned of their plans to expand drug trafficking into his home region of Sicily, getting women and children involved. On May 20, 1999, he turned himself in to Prosecutor Gilberto Falco, providing him with all the information needed to arrest thirty-two members of the organization who were involved with the money laundering scheme.↗↗↗
Il Testimone della Parte Gangster
As the prosecution's star witness, Pollo is prepared to testify against Passione at the first hearing. However, Tizzano 's defense lawyer flashes his half-sister's ring, a covert threat that Pollo immediately understands. Someone connected to Passione had abducted Melissa and locked her away in a city warehouse. Terrified, Pollo recants his entire statement on the spot, claiming it was all a fabrication and throwing the trial into chaos.↗↗↗
At the second hearing, he is again forced to lie, this time accusing Falco of coercing him into perjury. His loyalty shifts entirely when Falco, having deduced the situation, brings Pollo's rescued half-sister into the courtroom. Overjoyed and now fully trusting Falco, Pollo triumphantly raises his hand, ready to finally tell the truth.↗↗
However, this is the moment Tizzano was waiting for. As Pollo takes the stand, Squalo 's Clash attaches Talking Head to his tongue when Pollo takes a drink from his water bottle. The Stand forces him to say the opposite of what he intends, turning his planned praise for Falco into a vicious accusation that Falco was the one who took his sister hostage. As Pollo frantically tries to tell the truth, Clash rips his tongue out from the root, killing him and solidifying the frame-up against Falco.↗↗
