04Story
SPOILERS
Background
Versus's mother, alongside Giorno's Mother, was one of the many lovers DIO was involved with during his stay in Cairo before the events of Stardust Crusaders. However, DIO saw his lovers as merely tools or meals. According to herself, Versus's mother used to be a "big shot."↗↗↗
She later returned to America and gave birth to Versus roughly around 1986. Afterward, she married another man, making his daughters Versus's stepsisters. The family's relationship was poor, as Versus was estranged from them. His parents would ramble about their past glories and how important they used to be, while also favoring his stepsisters. Due to this estrangement and distance, Versus never learned who his biological father was until later.↗↗↗↗↗
Knowing he would have to come back later, Versus tried to find shelter before discovering a brand-new pair of baseball cleats. Unaware of their origins, Versus put them on and was caught by the police. In court, he was accused of stealing the shoes, which had been signed by Ichiro Suzuki. Though Versus naively told the truth, he was sentenced to a harsh six-month term in a juvenile correctional facility.↗↗
The neglect, wrongful imprisonment, and harsh conditions in the correctional facility inflicted lasting suffering on Versus during his childhood. After his release, Versus decided to isolate himself from the rest of society, including his family.↗↗

- SO Chapter 122 states that the shoes Versus found were donated by Ichiro in 2002 or 2003, while Versus was 13 years old at the time, meaning he had to have been born in or after 1989. This is corrected in the anime, which removes the year Ichiro donated the shoes. Open ↗
