05Story
SPOILERS
Nicholas Joestar was born sometime in 1867, five years before his brother, Jonathan "Johnny" Joestar. The eldest son of a wealthy and acclaimed horse trainer, Nicholas grew up to be a genius horseback rider with certain talents for riding any horse easily and being able to pace his runs with perfect timing down to the second. He was well-loved by many, particularly his father George and his younger brother Johnny, both of whom held him in high regard.↗↗
At some point, his family moved to England where he began training extensively to become a jockey.↗↗
When a young Johnny once took his pet mouse Danny to secretly feed it under the table during dinner, his father, upon discovering it, ordered the child to drown the animal in a lake by himself as punishment. Heartbroken, Johnny was unable to bring himself to do the deed; Nicholas suggested to set Danny free into the woods instead, and they used a stuffed mouse from his school as a decoy to show to their father.↗
By the age of fourteen, Nicholas had entered horseback riding competitions and won several trophies, all of which were displayed on his desk. One day, while practicing for his next race with a new horse named Black Rose, said horse stumbled from something on the ground, which cost Nicholas his life. The family's newly-hired hot walker Diego claimed a white mouse was the cause of the accident — a mouse whom Johnny, who was there to witness the accident, believed to be Danny.↗
Seven years later, Johnny rose to fame in England and the United States as a racing prodigy just like his brother had been. However, his father still did not acknowledge him and his feats. During an argument when Johnny attempted to borrow Nicholas's old boots in his bedroom, the patriarch exclaimed to God why He had taken Nicholas and not Johnny.↗↗
Johnny's grief over Nicholas followed him into the Steel Ball Run race in 1890. During the fight with Axl RO, his Stand Civil War manifested apparitions of Nicholas and Danny from Johnny's guilt over freeing Danny and leading to Nicholas's death.↗↗

Personality
According to Johnny, Nicholas's teachers trust him enough to lend him a mouse corpse on account of his good grades.↗
Although his father holds him in high regards posthumously, considering him to have been far superior to both Johnny and Diego Brando as well as maintaining his bedroom years after his death, Nicholas was shown to assist Johnny in fooling their father into believing Danny was dead as well as making jokes at his expense.↗↗
