Mamoru Mochizuki (望月 護, Mochizuki Mamoru) is the second son of Sakuzo Mochizuki. He is the brother to Akiko and Noboru and the uncle of Aki and Takeru. On September 18, 1986, 28 years prior to the story, when he was coming home from school during the afternoon at 17, he saw one of the neighbors' kids were drowning in a river.
