02Appearance
Kuroyama is a tall, heavily built teenager. He has a distinct, delinquent-style appearance, featuring a tall pompadour haircut, thick eyebrows drooping downwards diagonally, and prominent, thick lips. He is also inconsistently shown with freckles and visibly prominent lower front teeth.↗
He is shown with different clothes throughout the summer camp. One of his outfits is a light-colored collared long-sleeved shirt worn open over a dark t-shirt with pants. While canoeing, he wears a t-shirt and shorts. Later, he has a tank top and shorts. Another outfit is a dark, zip-up track jacket with multiple pockets over a light-colored undershirt.↗
03Personality
Kuroyama is an arrogant and sadistic bully. He takes immense pleasure in harassing, mocking, and physically abusing younger, weaker students. He views other kids like B.T. as completely beneath him and openly demands that B.T. acts as his personal servant to carry his firewood. He is prone to anger and relies entirely on brute force to solve his problems, viciously beating B.T. to the ground simply because B.T. refused to follow his orders. Not only is Kuroyama rude to his fellow peers, but also his teacher. When his teacher pauses a campfire story to ask why he is making a commotion, Kuroyama casually snaps at her to mind her own business and commands her to keep talking.↗↗
Despite constantly hanging around his associate, Akagawa, their friendship is completely superficial and devoid of any real trust. As B.T. accurately deduces, there is no real loyalty between the two delinquents; the moment Akagawa believes Kuroyama played a malicious prank on him, he immediately turns on Kuroyama with lethal intent.↗↗

The Summer Camp Incident
During a school summer camp trip intended to foster teamwork and friendship, Kuroyama and his friend, Akagawa, spend their time bullying the other campers. He lies to one of the campers, claiming that the boy's house caught on fire the previous night, burning his parents to death. He and Akagawa laugh as the boy runs away crying.↗
While out on the lake in a canoe, they spot B.T. in another boat. Akagawa points out B.T. to Kuroyama, mocking him for his height. Kuroyama calls out to B.T., attempting to tell him the same cruel joke he told the other camper. However, B.T. completely shuts him down by predicting what he would say already. B.T. then rows away, infuriating Kuroyama. Akagawa wonders why B.T. is popular with the girls, angering Kuroyama further, who lifts some dumbbells.↗
B.T. approaches carrying his own bundle of firewood, but Kuroyama trips him, causing him to drop them all. Kuroyama then orders B.T. to carry their bundle of firewood back to their tent first. When B.T. calmly refuses, Kuroyama is infuriated by his defiance. He and Akagawa ruthlessly gang up on B.T., severely beating and kicking him to the ground. As Kuroyama and Akagawa walk away, Kuroyama threatens to make it worse next time if he defies them. B.T.↗
To exact his revenge, B.T. captures a live Japanese giant hornet by luring it with a frog's meat and putting it to sleep with campfire smoke. While they're out swimming, Kuroyama puts a dragonfly inside Akagawa's swim shorts. Shortly after, B.T. heads into the shower room. He secretly slips the dormant, highly venomous hornet directly into what Koichi Mugikari assumes is Kuroyama's pocket.↗
Later, Kuroyama is clipping his nails outside. Akagawa asks whether Kuroyama isn't hot in his jacket, causing Kuroyama to yell at him. Kuroyama then notices a strange buzzing sound coming from his pocket. The instructor asks why he is being loud, but Kuroyama tells her that it's none of her business and to continue her story. Kuroyama reaches his hand inside, but his pockets are empty.↗
That night, the campers gather outside to watch a fireworks display. Suddenly, a commotion breaks out, and Koichi is horrified to see Kuroyama collapsed on the ground, having been stabbed in the stomach with a pocket knife. Koichi immediately suspects that B.T. is the culprit, believing B.T. took his revenge too far. However, B.T. calmly denies it, pointing out that the real culprit was Kuroyama's own friend, Akagawa.↗
B.T. explains that he did not use physical violence to defeat them, but rather psychological manipulation. B.T. simply whispered to Akagawa that he saw Kuroyama put a bug in his clothes. This wasn't completely a lie, as B.T. had seen Kuroyama putting the dragonfly in his shorts, but Akagawa assumed that B.T. meant it was the hornet. Kuroyama's fate after the stab is unknown.↗↗
