02Appearance
Stroheim is a man of average build with a wide flattop and a long lock of hair flowing down his left side. He wears a monocle over his right eye.↗↗
His outfit consists of an overcoat with a feather-like ornament on the left shoulder, a belt, pants, and riding boots. His collar bears SS insignia in some panels.↗↗↗
03Personality
Stroheim is ruthless in his attacks, opening fire on Gyro and Johnny without warning. When Gyro withstands his gunfire, Stroheim threatens to shoot Johnny and Valkyrie unless Gyro drops his Steel Balls.↗↗↗
Stroheim recognizes the Spin of Gyro's Steel Balls and understands that it can carve objects and control muscles. He also identifies Gyro's use of the technique to harden his skin and deflect bullets, then fires at his wrists in an attempt to make him drop the Steel Balls.↗↗↗
He is confident in his weapons, challenging Gyro to throw his Steel Balls at him so that he can demonstrate that his bullets are faster. He fails to anticipate Gyro's attack with stone spheres carved from the rock behind him.↗↗↗
04Abilities
Cybernetic Arm and Firearms
Stroheim's mechanical right hand conceals a gun, which he exposes by opening the hand's outer casing. He fires repeatedly while riding Europe Express, hitting Gyro in the abdomen and continuing to shoot after Gyro and Johnny fall from their horses. He also carries a conventional revolver in his left hand, allowing him to threaten Johnny and Valkyrie while keeping his built-in gun aimed at Gyro.↗↗↗↗
Horseback Riding
Stroheim rides Europe Express, a four-year-old Trakehner, to seventh place in the 1st Stage of the Steel Ball Run race. He can fire his built-in gun while pursuing opponents on horseback.↗↗↗
05Story
SPOILERS
Steel Ball Run
Stroheim finishes seventh in the 1st Stage, earning 20 points. The results identify him by the initials and surname "F. V. Stroheim" and list his nationality as German and his horse as Europe Express. His seventh-place finish is mentioned again when Johnny and Gyro review the standings during the 2nd Stage.↗↗↗
Approximately 25 km from the 2nd Stage's finish at Monument Valley, Stroheim approaches Johnny and Gyro from behind. Johnny identifies him as the German racer who placed seventh, while Gyro initially suspects him of doping because of his horse's speed. Gyro changes course to keep the approaching rider away, but Stroheim opens his mechanical hand and reveals its concealed gun.↗↗
Stroheim shoots Gyro in the abdomen and continues firing, causing both riders to fall from their horses. He shoots Gyro again as Gyro takes cover against a rock, but notices that the Spin is allowing him to withstand the bullets. After failing to disarm Gyro by shooting at his wrists, Stroheim draws a revolver in his left hand and threatens to shoot Johnny and Valkyrie unless Gyro drops his Steel Balls. He challenges Gyro to attack, confident that his gunfire will be faster.↗↗↗↗
Gyro asks whether Stroheim really wants him to let go, then drops his Steel Balls. Stroheim has failed to notice that Gyro has carved numerous stone spheres from the rock behind him using the Spin. When Gyro lets go, the spheres fly at Stroheim, striking him in the face and knocking him from his horse.↗↗
Gyro subsequently attributes the attack to enemies from his homeland, but Johnny questions whether that explains the increasingly violent pursuit. During Pork Pie Hat Kid 's attack, Johnny concludes that Stroheim and Oyecomova were actually searching for the mummified left arm inside his body, rather than merely trying to eliminate a race competitor.↗↗↗
