Formaggio's Cat

Vento Aureo

When Formaggio tries reading a message from his team about Polpo 's suicide, he is carrying the cat in his lap and petting it. However, the cat aggressively struggles and paws at his face. Before leaving, Formaggio uses Little Feet on the cat and stuffs it into a bottle on his desk.↗↗

Background

This stray cat was theorized by Illuso to possibly have been part of a gang of cats. One night, Formaggio and Illuso hear voices coming from a narrow alley packed between cheap apartment buildings and restaurants. It leads to a vacant lot that is roughly 130 square meters in size, where they find this cat injured and left for dead by the other strays. Formaggio saves the cat and brings it back to his hideout.↗↗

Recovery Period

Formaggio decides not to keep the cat as a pet, and is just giving it a place to stay until it heals. Later, the cat shreds up Formaggio's fashion magazines, so he shrinks it with Little Feet and stuffs it into a bottle as punishment. Illuso trips over the bottle when he arrives at the hideout to return a CD. Shocked at Formaggio's unusual form of punishment, Illuso carefully breaks the bottle to release the cat. The cat immediately hisses and lunges at Formaggio, who dodges its attack.↗↗

In the days that followed, Illuso continues to suffer collateral damage from both the cat's behavior and Formaggio's refusal to take responsibility. The cat chews through his down vest, drools on his hair, and bites him when irritated, after being antagonized by Formaggio. At some point, Formaggio takes the cat to a vet he knows, who tells him that it has a deep wound that could reopen if it moves around too much, and even its bone is damaged.↗↗

Rebellion

One night during a full moon, Formaggio and Illuso find that the cat has disappeared through the window when they return from dinner. Worried about its condition, they track its path to the vacant lot where it was first found. They spy on it from within the mirror world so that the cat could not sense them, where they witness the cat confronting the same group of strays that previously attacked it.↗↗↗↗

Closure

Later, after Formaggio's death, Illuso returns to Formaggio's hideout to clean up any traces that Formaggio might have left behind in the room. At some point, the cat had somehow managed to escape from the bottle on its own, and Illuso sees it in the room. After receiving intel on the Boss 's daughter and wiping the data, Illuso carries the cat outside and sets it down on the sidewalk. The cat lingers and grooms itself without reacting to Illuso's attempts to drive it away.↗↗
